Emiley’s AmaWaterways River Cruise Adventure: It’s Easy!

River cruising was one of those things I never expected to love as much as I did. I have always been a girl who enjoys complicated, carefully planned itineraries involving trains, planes, and automobiles, but a cruise was never something I had seriously considered.

As a young traveler, I wondered if a river cruise would be for me. The minute I stepped onboard AmaWaterways, I knew my perspective had changed.

The Amount of Ease Was Honestly Shocking.

I was never disappointed by anything. The food was exceptional, every meal felt like a four-course experience, and there was not a single dish I was unhappy with. My friend is also gluten-free, which can sometimes be difficult when traveling through Europe. But the service on AmaWaterways never let her down. The minute she walked into the restaurant, our waiter was waiting with a plate of fresh, hot gluten-free bread.

The waitstaff were also one of my favorite parts. They got to know us by name and quickly became faces we looked forward to seeing onboard. I also loved how many activities there were to choose from. There were different activity levels, so if I wanted to take a long hike to a castle, I could. If I wanted to relax, there were plenty of chairs to soak up the sun and even a pool to lounge in when I got too warm.

The Convenience of a Floating Hotel

Even as a travel agent, I still experience occasional travel anxiety, and the ease of AmaWaterways gave me the ability to take in the sights and relax. Being able to dock right in the heart of a city quickly became one of my favorite parts. I could spend the day exploring and then return to my floating hotel without worrying about another hotel check-in, packing and unpacking, or figuring out transportation.

Although I still love my land tours and exploring on foot, I will always have a special place for the river. River cruising showed me that you do not have to sacrifice adventure, or activity for comfort. It has become one of my favorite ways to travel, and one I would recommend to all ages!
